#23: WEREWOLVES

Even a man who is pure at heart and says his prayers at night, may become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms, and the
moon is pure and bright.
From Lon Chaney, Jr. in Universal Stuidos WOLF-MAN, to Jack Nicholson in WOLF, the werewolf has always been one of
the more endearing monsters in film history.

Werewolf movies have always been a great way to show off special effects as well. When the first movie showed a
time lapse evolving makeup of Chaney, Jr, it was pretty damn cool for the time, but as special effects and audience expectations have increased, so has the impressiveness
of the werewolf movies.

Though THE HOWLING wasn't necessarily the best story in the world (and what's up with all of those lousy sequels?),
the transformation effects were beautiful.

But my all time favorite werewolf movie was AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. It's damn funny, and has a nice
shower sex scene to boot. But ignore the awful sequel at all costs.

| I highly recommend this great paperback collection of Bizarro stories from
Amazon, at $3 off the cover price for $11.95 . I
bought it a year ago and have read it several times already, it's great laugh out loud comedy that hasn't been in comic books for decades. And the Jaime "Love
and Rockets" Hernandez cover is an added treat! |
