COMIC CONSPIRACY
CARTOONISTS TEAM UP IN FANTAGRAPHICS' "THE BUSH JUNTA" TO EXPOSE THE HISTORY OF
THE BUSH FAMILY

"The Bush Junta" is a great
collection of stories told in comic book form about the darker skeletons in the
Bush Family closet. Far more incendiary that Michael Moore's Fahrenheit
9/11 documentary, Junta has the luxury of printed paper to make the facts and
figures stick out with permanence. And to lend credibility to the 24
stories within, there's an extensive bibliography to back it all up.
Granted, as is the case with many anti-conservative themed works, there's not
likely many die-hard Bush supporters that would buy this book, but it makes for
a spooky read for the Halloween season more chilling than a new Hannibal Lecter
book could ever dream of.
I laughed at the title page of
the first story, "The Bush-Nazi Connection" thinking right away they were
grasping at straws with name calling akin to some of the more outrageous Air
America shows, but was amazed by the way they illustrate how Bush family
patriarch, Prescott Bush, was involved in laundering Nazi cash for Hitler's
regime, while making considerable profits of Auschwitz slave labor.
Among the other claims the book
makes:
-
Prescott Bush was exposed as a
fraudulent War Hero in World War 1.
-
While Prescott was a member of
the Skull and Bones society, he dug up the bones of Navajo leader Geronimo with
3 others and brought them back to the Yale campus, where they are said to still
be.
-
George Bush Sr. pardoned Orlando
Bosch who was a CIA trained operative who was responsible for bombing a Cubana
DC-8 Airliner that caused the deaths of 73 people.
-
During the 1980 campaign, Bush,
Sr. makes a secret deal with Iran in which they promise to not release the 52
American hostages until after the elections are held, in exchange for military
equipment (that was delivered to Iran via Israel).
-
This is during the same time we
were funding Iran's enemy, Iraq.
-
Scott Hinckley, the brother of
would be Reagan assassin John Hinckley, was to have been a dinner guest of Neil
Bush the day after the shooting occurred. Hinckley's father was a major
contributor to Bush's political campaigns, and in the 60s, Bush Sr.'s company,
Zapata Oil, bailed out an oil company owned by Hinckley.
-
In order to arrest Manuel
Noriega, who was given support by a Bush led CIA years earlier, over 2,000
civilians were killed. Some civilian deaths were recklessly caused by
tanks running over cars filled with families and other wanton destruction
against non-military targets. Noriega is now in prison serving a 40 year
term, and Panama is home to as much drug-trafficking as before.
-
As Governor of Texas, George W
during an interview with Talk magazine about the recently executed Karla Faye
Tucker, "compassionately mimicked the woman he had put to death, pursing his
lips in mock desperation and whimpering: 'Please don't kill me!'"
-
During his term as Governor,
George W presided over 152 executions. "Many of these prisoners were
mentally ill or severely retarded. Others were indigents who's
court-appointed attorneys fell asleep during their trials."
There's several more chapters
about 9/11, the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, and other scandals. It's
clearly a 1 sided book meant to attack the Bush family legacy, but it's an
interesting read nonetheless. As of next week, "The Bush Junta" will
either become an irrelevant footnote to the end of an era, or the fodder for
four more years of angry talk radio. Fans of cutting edge comic book art,
will gladly keep it on their bookshelf for a lifetime.
