100 COOLEST POP CULTURE VEHICLES

From The Flintstones family car to Harry Potter's broomstick, pop culture history is rich with cool modes of transportation. Many a day I sit behind the wheel of my Subaru Lezbacy Wagon and wish it was even half as cool as everything on this list. I was going to stick to cars when I originally thought of this feature, but decided that motorcycles, boats, planes, and any other forms of getting around were equally deserving of praise. I actually started writing this article back in 2003 and like many projects I begin, promptly put it away and forgot all about it. I'm not sure why I did, but certainly it's a good one! Sure to be fun and controversial, the 100 Greatest Pop Culture Vehicles of All Time is going to be published a bit every day like our great lists of yesteryear. I hope you come back every day for the latest additions and enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together. CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST ADDITIONS!

We'll have them done sooner than later now, and I'll be back in action with regular updates from now on. Thanks to all of you for sticking around. I'd love to hear from you! RETROCRUSH DVD REVIEWS

SILVERHAWKS SEASON 1 VOLUME 1
Pretty much just a space themed Thundercats rip off, but a nice piece for those who were waiting for this long unavailable cartoon to be released on DVD. I wasn't the biggest fan of the show, because like Thundercats, Transformers, and so many other of the '80s cartoons aimed at boys, they were just overblown toy commercials. But it's a nice foil embossed DVD package, and if you even remotely enjoyed the show, I'm sure you'll be happy. This 4 disk set contains 32 episodes, a couple featurettes, and a preview of the animated Wonder Woman movie.
of ass, that's for sure.

HAVE A KASIO KRISTMAS!

One '80s Christmas, my family got a Casio VL-TONE keyboard. I played the hell out of it, and got some pretty funky beats down. There's a great bizarre otherwordly quality to the sounds it made that still make me glow with nostalgia. So when the folks at Kasio Kristmas offered to let me hear their holiday CD, I jumped at the chance. Their MySpace page states, "KASIO KRISTMAS IS A DUO and 100% CASIO! SK-1, VA-10, SK-5, VL-Tone, SK-8A, Rapman, Muppet, PT-87, CZ-1, TA-10, DH-100 Sax, Turbo Drive Calculator, Electronic Game (Karate Fight) CG-610, DG-20, PG-380, ECT. NO OTHER INSTRUMENTS WERE USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS Elf-A-Delic Casio Core Unstoppable Yuletide Joy Retro-Modern-Sci-Fi-5.1 Christmas experiment." We'd like to share the holiday joy and promote this great piece of work by giving away a copy of the CD. Just go to their site by CLICKING HERE and listen to some of their songs, and let me know what your favorite tune is. EMAIL ME your answers to rberry@retrocrush.com and I'll pick a winner this Thursday.

TODD SNIDER'S PEACE QUEER EP IS OUT!

Todd Snider's new CD, Peace Queer, is out and it's pretty damn great. It's got 8 tracks and you can pick it up on his website TODDSNIDER.net in physical CD or digital form. I'd go there instead of iTunes if you could because I bet he'll get more of the money from the sale that way, and he looks like one of these guys that could use every penny. I especially dig metaphorical bully song, "Is This Thing Working?" which has both a spoken word and musical version to enjoy. Support Alternative Country, damnit!

MTV OPENS UP THEIR MUSIC VIDEO LIBRARY (SORT OF)

Since you can't ever see their videos on TV anymore, it's a nice gesture to see MTV put over 16,000 videos from their archive online to watch (and share) for free. There's quite a lot to choose from and a lot of the obvious choices are there, but plenty of the golden age or more obscure goodies are just plain missing. While its cool to see the banned Van Halen classic "Pretty Woman" (complete with grope happy midgets), or just silly things like Duran Duran's "Union of the Snake", there's an awful lot of old videos from lesser known groups like Romeovoid, The Motels, Ultravox, and more that are missing. Other artists only have sparse representation (only 1 Adam Ant video, for example). But if they keep growing it, it could be nice. CLICK HERE to check it out.
