BERNIE DEXTER INTERVIEW

What can we say about retroCRUSH's latest pin-up of the month, Bernie Dexter but "YOW!"  This San Diego cutie is the daughter of a burlesque dancer and is making quite a mark in the online pin-up world.  Bernie shared some of her best pictures with us, and took some time to answer a few questions.

How did you get started as a pin-up?
I stated as a make up artist, hair dresser & wardrobe for photographers. I had not thought of myself as a pin up, but I sure enjoyed working on the shoots. The next thing I found I was being asked
to sit for light tests. The next thing I know I was asked to model bikinis, & lingerie & to be in calendars.

How did you recreate so many of Bettie Page's classic scenes so beautifully?
Well it was not on purpose really.... I was really have just doing classic 40s & 50s styled shoots.
I do not mind it at all. I think it is the haircut or something. But I try so hard just to be me. I did a tribute to Irving Claw, Tempest Storm & Bettie last year. That was intentional.

What's the secret to keeping your bangs so perfect?
No secret, I just let them do what the want to do. a little hairspray helps!

What were your favorite TV shows growing up?
Laverne & Shirley. I use to LOVE watching that show!!

What toy from your childhood would you want to have back now?
My Guy Smiley. I named him after a character on Sesame Street. But he  was a funny yellow cloth man. He had a huge head & a really small body. He had the classic smile face & a orange tuft of hair. Silly but I LOVED that doll so much. I think it was won at a fair by my sisters dad.

Who's pictures would have been hanging in your locker/bedroom when you were in high school?
Levi Dexter & the Rockats for sure!!

What's your ultimate career dream?
Immortality would be great!

Who are your favorite pinups?
Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page & Jayne Mansfield

When there's a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, who do you usually listen to?
The angel. I am so sensitive. I found when I have listened to the devil I have ALWAYS felt soooo bad after.

What's your favorite drink after a long day?
Cape Cod! I LOVE 'em!!

What's the weirdest fan-mail you ever got?
Oh so many... I think one guy said I made his tongue hard???

Well if your tongue has been feeling limp as of late, maybe these pictures will do the trick.  And if you'd like to see more, visit Bernie's site by clicking the banner at the bottom of the page.
