YOKO SHIMADA When the SHOGUN mini-series first aired in 1980, America was introduced to the incredibly charming and beautiful Yoko Shimada, in the role of Lady Mariko. I didn't get to see it when it first aired, but I remember kids at school who talked about scenes where a guy gets his head cut off, Richard Chamberlain getting peed on, and "this really pretty lady who you get to see...NAKED!" It all came back to me when I saw this show on DVD for the first time, 24 years later, and I'll admit it lived up to the hype. Shimada is one of the most beautiful women that's ever been captured on film. It's a shame we haven't seen too much more of her since then, here in America. If anyone has any good Asian language DVDs starring her to recommend, I'd love to hear about them. In the meantime, enjoy this gallery of Yoko from the famous hot-tub scene in SHOGUN.
