I was 6 years old when Mattel released these back in 1975, and they seemed like the coolest thing ever on the TV commercial. Each figure was animated when you moved a lever back and forth. My friend David Dowdy had a few of these, and though they looked neat, it was clear that the play value was about 10 minutes before you got super bored of them. I’m pretty sure you couldn’t take them off their base. And they were too expensive compared to the cheap easy play of buying a bucket of green army men.
