God's Carbon Footprint

Why did God have to flood the world anyway? Couldn't he have just snapped his fingers and made all the bad people disappear? It's not like he had to teach the people he killed a lesson. It would have saved the innocent slaughter of millions of animals, and destruction of the world's trees. Just think of how many old growth trees we would have had if they didn't have to grow from scratch again?

Same goes for Soddom and Gommorah getting burned to the ground with fire and brimstone. The after affects to the air quality are still being felt. God's carbon footprint is way too big.

Comments:
He did things the way He did because we as humans have to have things spelled out slowly for us to learn and understand. By flooding the earth, we get smacked in the face with the metaphor of "cleansing and washing away" the sin. As for Soddam and Gamorah, The major point was not only the destruction of the cities, but also the opportunity presented to the inhabitants to leave their sinful pasts and start anew. Spelled out slowly: Do what He says, or Burn. We as humans are like children - we can't always just be told, we have to be shown as well. Besides, life on earth is finite; the opening act - Eternal life is where the party is. Life on earth is about opportunities - God provides them, Satan provides them - The opportunities we take are up to us - Ever notice that Satan offers us opportunities that seem to be easy to take, require little to no effort and seem to have immediate payoff? All the while though, God is giving us opportunities that sometimes require much more effort and patience on our part, but the pay-off is bigger, much bigger. To paraphrase the late Dr. Randy Pausch: "The brick walls are not there to keep us out, they're there so we can show our dedication." The contradiction to this is of course is the biggest opportunity God gives us - believe in Him, and get into The Big Party for free. Those opportunities were given to all the people before the flood, and they chose not to get on the boat. They were given to the residents of those ill-fated cities and they chose hedonism, sodomy and sinful earthly pleasures rather than to get out off the cities and not look back. As for the animals, trees and pollution you were worried about, those are threats conceived by man, created by man and ultimately endured by man. This world and everything in it are God's - He's got a good handle on things, and it's a bit arrogant to think of the situation as Him destroying our earth. It's his world and he's just letting us live in it. And all he asks of us in return is to love him - truly love Him, and put nothing before Him. If We can abide by that, all the other problems resolve themselves.

god = Santa Clause = Easter Bunny

They are only real until you realize that they were created by man.

Where did we come from? Where are we going? These two questions have created god.
