A FUN LOOK AT VINTAGE SAFETY POSTERS FROM INDIA

I rescued this cool feature we first published back in 2001, and it still holds up as a pretty damn funny! Tons of fun pictures from the book AN IDEAL BOY that's chock full of some of the most bizarre safety posters that you'll ever have the pleasure of seeing. Guaranteed to make you laugh out loud at least 3 times, unless you live in a shaky house.

THE WORST GIMMICK BAND OF ALL TIME

In 1981, The Village People were already on the skids and the void for a new goofy themed music act needed to be filled. Enter The All Sports Band, who for the first time melded the love of sports equipment and shitty music into one awful package. CLICK HERE to read our tribute.

ENTERTAINMENT WEAKLY

I picked up the complete Jack Kirby Devil Dinosaur in hardback "for my son" this Christmas and it's fantastic! You get the entire 9 issue series in full hardback color with all the crazy caveman and dino goodness you'd expect from the world's greatest comic book talent. This series is extra cool because you get rare full page editorials from Kirby talking about dinosaurs to help kick off the letter page segment. Kirby created the series hoping it'd get picked up as a cartoon. Maybe someone will wise up and actually do it someday. Anyway, I highly recommend the book for anyone wanting something super run to read.

"To Kill A Mockingbird" director Robert Mulligan passed away last week at the age of 83. Harper Lee's immortal novel was custom made for film, and Gregory Peck was fantastic as the lead Atticus Finch, but Mulligan's direction helped bring it all together. The scene where Scout walks home with her brother while dressed as a ham is still one of the most eerie and strange movie scenes I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

In a surprising move, a judge ruled that Fox actually owns the rights to make a Watchmen movie, which my jeopardize the film's May 2009 release date. Since its basically already in the can, my guess is that WB and Fox will likely work out some sort of settlement. How does this sort of thing even happen? Doesn't WB have lawyers that work for them?

Thanks for being patient with the retroCRUSH's facelift. We'll be fully stocked on the frontpage with a revamped article archive, and lots of new updates soon.

DONATE TO RETRO!
Do you love retroCRUSH? Help us publish more regularly by donating to our site! In these tough economic times, we understand that your retro dollar needs to go far. Why not support a website that has been giving you quality retro goodness since 2001? If we can raise $3,000, I'll get rid of all pop up ads on the site for 2009 AND have enough to subsidize the publishing costs of my first two books. Just click the donate button, any amount you're comfortable with will do. Thanks in advance! Love, Robert!
